Who's the Flip Flop dog trainer?
My name is Raquel and I'm the Flip Flop Dog Trainer. Why that name? Because I'm always in flip flops and that's how I became known in Brazil. I was the girl who was always training and working dogs wearing flip flops. It's a simple and objective style that has everything to do with the way I train dogs.
I was born in Texas but raised in Brazil. I started my career as a dog trainer somewhere around 2011 when I faced challenges with my own dog. Learning about dog training opened my eyes to multiples elements that surround the foundation of a good life with dogs. I began to understand why people struggle so much and how simple the training can be once we understand that dogs are able to adapt when we present a clear communication with the proper tools and simple common sense.
The journey of dog training can be challenging because so many people mix human emotions and perceptions with a created projection of their dogs. Failing to recognise what the dog needs can lead to misinterpretation of clear signs and eventually major problems. My job is to open the eyes of the owners so they can see the reality in a simple fashion and put into practice a lifestyle that can be fulfilling and joyful for both parties.
After 15 years training dogs in Brazil I'm starting my journey here in the US, bringing all my experience and knowledge to the Texas area. I believe in a world with better educated people to lead dogs into a better life. I work closely with owners and I show all my work throughout my videos on social media. I believe it's my responsibility to document all my work so owners throughout the world can benefit from all that material, for life.
I believe in dog training tools such as e-collars, prong collars, long lines, crates and everything that can benefit the learning process of the dog and its handlers. I document and show all my work publicly so the learning process, troubleshooting and success can be revisited at any time, by anyone. Transparency is key to everything.
If you are ready to face reality, have a better dog and a better life as a human, I'm the trainer for you. I'm patient, open to dialog, thorough and detailed oriented. I believe the answers are not in what people want to hear, but in reality. It can be challenging at first but overwhelmingly rewarding when the results present themselves. I'm ready when you are!
